Delicious Library 2 Templates released

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Today I released my first two templates for Delicious Library 2.

I created these templates to get the ball rolling, really just as an experiment to see how easy it could be. Also, I wanted to have a way to print or publish a plain Library listing. I’m hoping some people much more creative than me will release some really good templates.

See the Goodies page for more information and a download.

Recommended for Approval

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Today I went to the USCIS office for my naturalization interview. Met T. in the lounge and chatted for a while, then proceeded to the waiting room. The interview was all over in about 30 minutes. Fortunately I was well prepared for everything and there weren’t any unexpected questions or requests for information I didn’t have.

First I swore to tell the truth, so help me God. Basically they asked me several questions related to information on my application, asked me to read aloud the oath of allegiance and then explain what it means to me. I also had to provide a writing sample and autograph my photos.

Finally the interviewer handed me a piece of paper which reads “Congratulations! Your application has been recommended for approval.”

The next step will be the Oath Ceremony…

Racism is alive and well

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

“Seven in 10 whites overall backed Clinton in Kentucky, including about three quarters of those who have not completed college. That made Tuesday’s contest one of her stronger performances yet with those blue-collar white voters – little surprise considering Kentucky has one of the country’s highest proportions of people who are not college graduates.

In addition, only about four in 10 working-class whites in Kentucky said they would vote for Obama in a matchup with John McCain in the general election. About an equal number said they would support the Republican, and the rest said they would not vote.

It was not just the voters’ race, but their racial attitudes, that proved influential.

About one in five whites said race played a role in choosing a candidate Tuesday – on par with results in several other Southern states. Nine in 10 of that group backed Clinton – the highest proportion yet among the 28 states where that question has been asked in exit polls.

Only three in 10 whites who said race was a factor said they would vote for Obama should he oppose McCain in November. Nearly four in 10 said they would back McCain, while the rest said they wouldn’t vote.”

Sicko

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Over the weekend I watched Michael Moore’s Sicko. Everyone in America needs to watch this movie and reflect on its message.

I plan on posting a full review and commentary on the movie when my circumstances allow, hopefully later this summer.
